Frequently asked questions

Short answers about who I work with, how booking works, and what to expect.

Who do you work with?

I work with adults 18 and over, including young adults, college students, perinatal and postpartum clients, people in perimenopause and midlife, and older adults.

I support people with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, ARFID, OSFED, orthorexia, chronic dieting and disordered eating that doesn’t meet diagnostic criteria, body image distress and body dysmorphia, and emotional and compulsive eating.

Do I need a diagnosis to work with you?

No! I also work with chronic dieting and disordered eating that doesn’t meet diagnostic criteria. In fact, the vast majority of eating disorders and disordered eating are undiagnosed.

Is this about weight loss?

No, unfortunately. Although I totally understand the strive for the thin ideal, and that mindset is actively discussed in our sessions. Our work together is never about pursuing weight loss or a specific body size. We focus on rebuilding a trusting relationship with food and your body, restoring physical health, and nutrition rehabilitation.

What happens in the first session?

We spend time getting to know each other and building a foundation of trust. We’ll talk through your story, your current eating patterns, your goals and values, and your medical and treatment history. You’re always in control of what you share and when.

How do I book?

Booking, scheduling, insurance, and payment all happen through Nourish. Use the Schedule an Appointment button to see availability and get started.

Do you take insurance?

Yes, through Nourish, which works with Blue Cross Blue Shield (including all state plans and associated plans such as Anthem, Wellmark, and UIHC plans), United Healthcare, Aetna, and Cigna. According to Nourish, 94% of in-network patients pay $0 out of pocket.

Do you accept Medicaid or Medicare?

No. Medicaid and Medicare are not accepted at this time.

Which states do you see clients in?

I’m a licensed dietitian in Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri. I also see clients in additional states that don’t require state dietetic licensure, including: AZ, CA, CO, CT, HI, ID, IN, MA, MI, NH, NJ, NY, OK, OR, PA, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, WY.

Will you work with my other providers?

Absolutely. Collaborative care is best practice, so in our first session I’ll ask about the providers on your care team, such as a therapist, physician, and/or psychiatrist.

What if I’m in crisis?

I can’t respond to urgent messages through this website or email. In the US, you can call or text 988, or call 911 in an emergency.
